Penile Length in Hypospadias

چکیده
Objective: We compared the stretched penile length (SPL) in hypospadias with SPL-for-age nomogram and studied the penile growth after chordee correction in proximal hypospadias. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study from April to September 2013. Hundred pre-operative hypospadias patients upto 10 years age underwent SPL measurement for comparison with nomogram. Hypospadias severity was recorded. Thirty patients upto 10 years age, and beyond two years post-chordeecorrection were included. Fifteen patients, 8-10 year old and beyond two years post-chordee-correction, were categorized by age at chordee correction (< 2 years, 2-5 years and > 5 years). Their SPLs were recorded. Results: SPL was within normal range for age irrespective of hypospadias severity. Beyond 2 years age, penile growth was retarded in proximal hypospadias with chordee. A catch-up penile growth 2 years after chordee correction was observed. At 8-10 years age, the proximal hypospadias patients who underwent chordee correction at < 2 years age had longer SPL than those corrected at > 2 years age (p = 0.019). Conclusions: SPL is within normal range for age irrespective of hypospadias severity. Beyond 2 years age, penile growth is retarded in proximal hypospadias. Catch-up penile growth may occur after chordee correction. Chordee correction before 2 years age may improve penile growth in proximal hypospadias.

Anogenital Distance and Penile Length in Infants with Hypospadias or Cryptorchidism: Comparison with Normative Data
BACKGROUND Anogenital distance (AGD) in animals is a sensitive biomarker of fetal endocrine disruption and the associated testicular dysgenesis syndrome (TDS). However, AGD in human infants with cryptorchidism and hypospadias, which are potential manifestations of TDS during childhood, is not clearly described. OBJECTIVE Our aim was to compare AGD in boys with cryptorchidism or hypospadias ag...
متن کاملHypospadias in goats
Hypospadias is an uncommon congenital defect of urinary tract in farm animals. This defect has been recorded rarely in calves, lambs and foals in the world. The aetiology of hypospadias is not well understood, it seems to be multifactorial and may be related to genetic, endocrinological, and environmental factors. During April to October 2007, twenty-four goat kids with sings of hypospadias wer...

PURPOSE We studied the degree of agreement between hypospadias patient and surgeon satisfaction with the cosmetic surgical result, and the relation between penile length, meatal position and patient satisfaction. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cosmetic and functional results in 35 boys with hypospadias were assessed, and a standardized questionnaire was completed by patients and surgeon. RESULTS The...
متن کاملWhat is a Good Looking Penis? How Women Rate the Penile Appearance of Men with Surgically Corrected Hypospadias.
INTRODUCTION Some men with corrected hypospadias perceive their penile appearance to be abnormal, although health professionals consider these results satisfactory. AIM The aim of this study was to investigate how relevant women consider single aspects of penile appearance to be. Moreover, we studied whether women perceive hypospadias-affected surgically repaired genitals (HASRGs) to be as no...
متن کاملCritical androgen-sensitive periods of rat penis and clitoris development
Androgen control of penis development/growth is unclear. In rats, androgen action in a foetal 'masculinisation programming window' (MPW; e15.5-e18.5)' predetermines penile length and hypospadias occurrence. This has implications for humans (e.g. micropenis). Our studies aimed to establish in rats when androgen action/administration affects development/growth of the penis and if deficits in MPW ...
